Guest reviews consistently point to the location as the standout—close to the subway station and shopping streets, with some rooms offering views over the Huangpu River and Pudong's lit-up skyline. In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

3 reasons to book
  • Location is the clear win — Guests repeatedly highlight the 5-minute walk to Rockbund Art Museum, proximity to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and the subway, and a short walk to the Bund.
  • River and skyline views — Rooms with river views show the Huangpu River and Pudong's skyscrapers, especially impressive in the evening when lit.
  • Strong value for money — With rates from £65, guests feel the location and room quality justify the price—several mention it as good value.

Worth weighing

3 to weigh
  • Rooms can be small and dated — Some guests find the standard rooms compact, and carpets in certain rooms have drawn criticism for being worn.
  • Inconsistent rooms and service — Experiences vary: one guest was upgraded to a stunning suite while another saw uneven service for different guests. Air-conditioning leaks have been noted.
  • Limited English among staff — While staff are courteous, a few guests note that some staff speak limited English.

“The location is perfect, just a short walk to the subway station and Nanjing Pedestrian Street. The room was clean and spacious, with everything we needed. We also enjoyed exploring the nearby street full of local food.”

“The location was good, very close to the Nanjing Street East mall and the subway. The concierge, Philip, was very helpful.”

“Excellent location near the famous shopping street NanJingLu and close to the metro station (Nanjing East Rd). Great view from the window of the Pudong commercial area, especially in the evening—all the skyscrapers right in front of you. I'd strongly recommend booking a river-view room on a high floor to fully enjoy the view. This is very good value for the money. The deposit, a common thing in Chinese hotels, was returned a few days after checkout.”

“We had a fantastic stay near the river, just a short 10-minute walk from the famous Bund. The facilities were great, including a Chinese restaurant and a Bank of China in the same building. Our room was nice and neat, with an amazing view of the city's financial district and the Oriental Pearl Tower. The staff was helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast every morning.”
